A wonderful evening, which began in College Chapel with a roaring sea shanty, acapella Beatles and an organ prelude, before venturing across into Upper Schools for a gallimaufry of everything from Telemann via smooth jazz to gangsta rap. (Password = WING's dog)
House Singing Competition 2023
Of all the inter-house competitions, the House Shout is the one that everyone wants to win. If is, after all, the only contest in which every single boy in every house participates. Led with verve and aplomb by Gabriel Wilkinson, the Timbralls' chorus sang their hearts out, and the Bay City Rollers' Be My Baby never sounded as good as it did when it was echoing off the walls of School Hall. A magnificent, and well-deserved victory.
Loud and proud
A more relaxed musical offering in Upper Schools, with a bit of everything from singer-songwriting and comedy skits to hard rock and cool jazz. Oscar M and Josh C brought considerable panache to their highlights reel of Rachmaninov's 2nd piano concerto and Obum gave Lady Gaga a run for a money, while Will H and Kabir made the statues in Upper Schools tremble with their uncompromising thrash ballads. Classical and rock performances from some of the Timbralls' many talented musicians, leavened with comedy and a wonderful whole-house rendition of We'll Meet Again at the end. (Password = M'Dame's dog)
